Last trip of 2019 and we wanted to skip the cold as Thanksgiving trip we experienced some brutal cold temperature. Christmas to the Keys for some sunny nice weather.
Mai-Kai Polynesian Show/Restaurant
Our journey to Key West begins with the Wynwood Walls. Here you will experience some unique colorful street murals by artist around the world. (They do make great pictures).
Kids could not wait any longer to soak in the beach water and the sand. So, we stopped at the Matheson beach for a little bit to get it out of their system before the long drive down South. This was quite a scenic park with a man made atoll tranquil water pool with beautiful waterside views.
Got to find some stopping point along the way, so we made a stop at the Robbie’s to feed Tarpon. Warning: The pelican may bite your finger if you hold on the fish for too long as daddy was bitten.
Sombrero Beach at Marathon
Next stop, more beach time and this time around with sunset at Sombrero Beach.
Made a quick stop on the Seven Mile Bridge for great sight and relaxing stroll. The older bridge is only for pedestrians and cyclists. It was among the longest bridge when it was built.
We took this unique Conch Train to tour the Key West popular places. With 90 minutes sightseeing around town should you decide to stay on board or an option with few stops that you could get off for lunch or what have you and re-board with the same ticket back to the station. This is pretty neat as you do not have to worry about driving to fully experience the town. Sit back and relax.
Smathers Beach
Since we’re here at the beach, what could be better than water sports? That’s right - parasailing experience with the kiddos. It might sound scary at first, but based on our experience, this is actually pretty well organized. (Unlike the one we’ve experience in Malaysia). So, we went on without the kids consent, we bought the tickets and off the air we go. Didi was actually pretty shocked, his face expression was priceless. On the other side, gege seems to enjoy the experience. Mommy again had sea sick and could no longer cope with the motion sickness after parasailing. Despite with an offer to go again.

This pass covers all the attractions (including the buffet) below with many more to choose from. It’s really a great pass as each attraction can easily well be the price of the pass.
Everglades Holiday Park
We wanted to experience the airboat and the Miami Sightseeing Day pass covers Everglades Holiday Park. It gives you 60-minutes Airboat tour, 1 free professional photo and Alligator show. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot alligators during the tour like we did.
Flamingo Gardens
Not too far from the Everglades Park is the Flamingo Gardens. We wanted to make the most of the Sightseeing pass, so we stopped by for a quick visit.
The pass also covers our food (where normally cost about $25/per person). Be sure to have your parking ticket validated at the restaurant.
Another fun attraction was the thriller speed boat. It takes you to tour the celebrity millions dollar mansion. At first the kids find it boring and thought it was just another boring boat ride. But, it turned out that it was FAST and feels like roller coaster. They loved it. It could be much better, but it rained on us and we were all soaked wet! After all, it was really a fun experience for the first time.
Big Bus Miami
Didi had always wanted to ride on two-decker bus and we finally got to ride it! We wanted the day tour, but due to some pass redemption issue, we didn’t get to ride until the night view. You’ll probably get the most of Miami during the day tour.
