Houston Downtown Aquarium

There was Buy One Get One Free Pass discount at Houston Downtown Aquarium on Saturday. It's been a while since we visited this place. The only thing that we were contemplating if we should go was the weather. It was very cloudy and forecast indicated that there was a possibility of rains. No problem. Daddy has learned a new trick lately to make a better judgement by looking at the weather in motion feature (at Weather.com) in the future mode. It shows where the rain comes from and heading to in quarter-hour interval but with a constraint of only 5 hours ahead forecast. This information is so useful and it had helped us couple of times to determine a go / no-go when there is a chance of rain.

Daddy gave a green light.

After parking on the street across (it is cheaper than $7 at the Aquarium parking), we took some pictures while lining up for ticket. Then we joined our friends for first attraction, Aquarium. Duh..

Calm down. Calm down  It is a different tank. The diver and a guide were explaining how they cleaned the tank and some other cool stuff. The diver also threw some high five to the ninos at the front.

Then out of no where inside the Aquarium was this white tiger looking at us.



I don't think she realized what was about to happen next. Was didi saying something?



That's the aquarium. The aquarium is not that big. Our friends were actually surprise that it was the end of it. Next destination, we stopped by at the stingray reef. Mommy and daddy had some hands on experience touching the stingray but gege says he would pass.

Gege and mommy (didi, presumably) were disappointed when they were told that the Ferris wheel was under maintenance. Of course last week Ferris wheel ride was not enough! We headed to the train ride that suppose to take us to see sharks!

The train took us into a shark tank. There were variety of shark species in the tank. Check this one out.



Right before we left, Carousel time! Since we have unlimited access day pass, mommy joined for a ride too! Three babies hanging on the pole ready to race!



We had our lunch at Barbecue Inn per daddy's coworker recommendation for best fried chicken. The place gave me an old and down-to-earth country feeling. It was crowded. We waited around 20 minutes to be seated and then another 30 minutes for the fried chicken. Like they stated on their website, it really took that long for the fried check to be ready! They don't take pre-order and will get the order only once seated. However, it was nice for them to get the kid's order while we were waiting in line so they can have their lunch first (You know what will happen when these fellows are hungry!). The barbecue ribs were good and so were the fried chickens. Some old folks told us that they have been eating here for last 40 years. Really!?
