Fun-filled trip to San Diego - Day 2

We had so much fun on the first day at San Diego! Here is our day 2 journey.

This hotel does not have breakfast so we ate out. Daddy recommends booking the hotel with breakfast next time as it save money, more importantly it saves a lot of time. We wanted to try Snooze, one of the popular early morning eatery near the Zoo, but the line was extremely long so we ended up having breakfast at Bread & Cie, which is also a good breakfast spot, recommend.

San Diego Zoo, here we come! Strongly suggest going early in the morning. First, to avoid the crowds and second, nice weather early in the day. Since we have the San Diego GoCard Pass for 2 days, we want to optimized our usage.

We did the bus tour as soon as we arrived at the zoo. Have we had to paid for the tour, we would not be on it. The tour was about 45 minutes long and we sat on the upper deck. Daddy recommends the lower deck and on the right side of the bus should you choose to do the bus tour. Kids can't see very well on the top deck especially on the left aisle. The tour is longer than it needs to be and it may not be suitable with toddlers who can't sit still. Walking may be more enjoyable for them.

After the tour, we did not go to the Sky Safari (Sky Tram) as we originally planned. The line was long and we do not want to waste time waiting in line. We walked around the zoo and ended at the Arctic Zone, where you could see the Arctic animals like the Polar Bear. The second entrance to the Sky Safari is right next to the polar bear viewing. Line was much shorter to none. When we got back to the front of the zoo with Sky Tram Safari, the wait time was horrendous! For that, we recommend taking the Sky Safari either first thing at 10:00 (Sky Tram opens at 10:00) or go from the back near the Polar bear viewing area. That goes 3 hours and time for lunch.

Lunch was at Jimmy Carter's Mexican Cafe. Mommy can't give recommendation on this restaurant because she is not a fan of Mexican food. Daddy tried out the Mole dish which is some brownish chocolate flavor. Interesting. His coworker has been talking about the dish albeit at another restaurant.

Time to relax a little with a local draft beer.

After lunch, kids were tired and needed a nap. We drove to the Sunset Cliff while Gege had his nap. We took turn to explore the view. Beautiful view there. Probably even nicer during sunset time.

The New Children's Museum was next. Mommy was disappointed. It is small and not worth the time if you have other places in mind. Mommy wanted to go to the San Diego Safari Park, but it's almost 45 minutes drive from town. We planned to go on the Flagship Ferry Cruise along the San Diego bay and could not make it back on time so we had to sacrificed the Safari Park. Sadly, tickets were sold out so we did not get to ride on the cruise. Lesson learned, even with GoCard, get the cruise ticket early.

In return, we drove to La Jolla. One of our friends recommended us to tour the La Jolla Cave Store, so we did that. The entrance to the cave is $5 per adult. There is 145 steps tunnel from the store to a mysterious place..

We stayed along the coast of La Jolla until sunset with Jack-in-the-Box for dinner. We had fun at the La Jolla cove and the surrounding. Kids got to play around chasing a lot of pigeons and seagulls. And as usual, daddy got to see his sunset.
