Warning ahead. This post is filled with a lot of pictures, beautiful pictures. And since we got so many pictures, we break it down to three separate posts. :)
Got to Wallypark airport parking early morning. Mommy secured some discounted parking coupons previously and it was for 'valet' parking. Not entirely sure what that mean but we were told to leave the car next to the entrance and they picked us up right away. One thing not that desired is that we had to leave the car key with them for the entire trip. When we were back, they simply dropped us off (perhaps the first one) to our car. Still, daddy thought the valet parking is unnecessary.
Yes, snack is a must with all flights. Thanks Southwest!
After 3 and half hours flight, we arrived at San Diego airport and the first stop was picking up our rental car. Saw a rental kiosk next to the counter and learned that it could be used to get the rental. Although, the queue is shorter, but seems like some people spent longer time there. Interesting, noted.
Following lunch at Lanna Thai restaurant. Food was pretty good in mommy's opinion.
Next stop is the Birch Aquarium. The aquarium is quite small and not much to see, but it does have a nice ocean view of the Pacific Ocean.
Next stop, Legoland. One of mommy's favorite attractions of this trip. Due to limited time, we could only spend a little over 3 hours. Do plan ahead. You can easily spend a whole full day at the park. Check out the map of this huge park!
Gege had so much fun and really had a wonderful time there. There were a lot of rides that designed for his age or a little older. Didi, on the other hand, did not do much. He is only 21 months and because of the minimum height restrictions, he could not go on most of the rides. Poor baby watching his brother having fun and all he could do was watch. We will return in few years so he could enjoy too.
We were so fortunate that the new attraction, Ninjago was at its first week of opening! Yeah! Gege like the new ride so much that he kept doing the ride trick after the park, and also in his sleep!
We stayed at the park until it closed. Found a restaurant nearby and had dinner at King's Fish House, which we do not recommend. Food is pricey and not up to par.
After dinner, we were loss for a good cause. Not too far from the restaurant, we spotted the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. Sadly, they were closed so we could only captured few pictures from outside. Look at it, isn't it gorgeous?
Back to hotel. Our hotel was reserved at Candlewood Suites San Diego with 15,000 IHG points each night. We did get an upgrade for the very first time. They upgraded us to 2 rooms & 2 baths. Nice.
That end our first day in San Diego. Ready for day 2?
