Best seating arrangements when traveling with kids by air

What's the best seating assignments when traveling with little kids?  As much as we have traveled by air, I learned the best seating arrangements with my 2 boys is to separate.  I often would choose two rows front and back.  Daddy and gege would usually be seated in front of didi & I.  As we all know, it is difficult to keep a 2 years old still and instead of always "stop and no...no...no...," through out the whole journey, I purposely have the eldest child be seated in front of the youngest.  That way, I get a peace of mind of not disrupting others and could take a little nap myself.

With domestic flights, we would be seating by the window and middle.  While, with long haul flights, we most likely would select middle section of the isle and middle seats unless the aircraft has 2 seaters by the window.

This kind of arrangement reduces the chance of the boys getting into arguments or fighting over an item and it is a lot easier to put one to sleep than dealing with two.
