Things to do with kids in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

2017 Lunar New Year falls on January 28th so it kick-started our travels for the year. Here comes our 3 weeks vacation in Malaysia with 20+ hours long haul flights.

A week before the New Year, I took the boys to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for 4 days 3 nights to explore the city before flying into Penang.

Farm in the City

This is a nice small farm with a lot of animals feeding and interaction for both kids and adults. Animals here seem to be very well fed unlike those we had seen at the Taiping zoo. The admission fee is RM48 for adult and RM38 for child.  Locals with their identity card (mykad) get special discounted price.

The location of the farm is not centralized in the city of Kuala Lumpur as the name depicted. For that, Uber comes in handy. Besides the high admission tickets, it's worth a visit for family with small children. Kids were very engaging through out the farm.

KL Bird Park



Apparently, this park is not as popular as I thought. Even locals are not familiar with such park. It is about 10 minutes away from the KL Sentral station and for that reason, we stayed at the Hilton hotel.

The park comes with a hefty admission fee of RM50 per adult. There's also discounted mykad (Malaysia identity card) price for residents. Peacocks are the primary species at the KL bird park. Somewhat disappointed, especially with such a high price admission fees. The park itself is huge, but the number of birds is limited. I do not recommend this place because there's nothing unique about it. It felt as if we paid RM50 just to see peacocks.



Mid Valley Mega Mall Playland




Definitely a no-go for us at this mega mall Playland. 10 minutes into the play area, gege was bored and told me he has nothing to play with. Then, the staff played an angry Bird movie at the cinema inside and my boys stayed to watch the movie. Did I mention, one of the most expensive movies to date?  I paid RM80 for 2 children to watch a movie! Which was the admission for 2 kids to play. Don't get me wrong now, the Playland does have huge slides and climbers for kids. Maybe, my kids are just not into it.

Petrosains, the discovery center

One of the fascinating science discovery center is located inside the KLCC Petronas tower, level 4. There's so much to see and learn so definitely a must visit for travelers to the KLCC. We spent at least 3 hours inside with fun hands on activities throughout the center. Both my 2 and 4 years old enjoyed it very much, so did I. Admission is RM30 and RM20 with mykad.



This concluded our 4 days 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It gave me some leeway considering daddy's not around. I so needed the extra time with clinging 2 year old didi around me at all time. Otherwise, I think 3 days 2 nights should suffice and again, depending on what's in your schedule. If you just want to browse the city and make few stops to the mall along with those attractions I mentioned, 2 nights is more than enough.

Our remaining time in Malaysia were spent with beloved families in Taiping, where a town with many 'first' with first railway, first museum, first police force, lake garden and many more.
