This is perhaps the TOP boring stuff to do in Maine during summer. Maine is famous for delicious seafood and lobster is on the top of the list. These are about 1.25 lbs of lobster each and boy.. were they so fresh and yummy. If all else fails, these two creatures are definitely worth the drive.
We ate them at Warren's Lobster House seafood restaurant, which has been in business for 75 years. Look at their menu below for food prices 50-60 years ago. The price today is more like ~5 times of how much it was, Hmph!
Kennebunkport
Touted to be the place to be all year. At least George Bush agreed. Its quiet and beautiful beaches and fine mansions make it another boring place to go. People drive or walk on the ocean avenue leading to walker's point and you can see former president George Bush's oceanfront home (Bush Compound).
Not far away from its stand is the lovely historic St. Ann's Episcopal Church. The church welcomes everyone. If you are bored, plan a visit to the church for a serene and peaceful experience that some have claimed.
Cape Elizabeth
A town in Maine with the most photographed lighthouse and view of the Atlantic. Drive to the Two Lights State Park and you can view the lighthouse. We expected to see this.
Unfortunately, the time we went, the view was obstructed by the fog and we could hardly get a glimpse of the ocean and the lighthouse. So, in return, we were bored and we did this,
And this. All in all, it looks like a nice place and we really enjoyed the foggy ocean front view.
Maxwell's Farm
On our way to Cape Elizabeth, we spotted people picking strawberry and we joined in the fun. Price was reasonable and the best part of it is that we get to pick our own strawberry right from the plant!
Strawberry was so sweet and delicious! Kids loved it. It was great fun for the family.
Acadia National Park
Further up north is the popular 47,000-acre Acadia National Park on the Maine's Mount Desert Island. This is one of the first places you see the sunrise in U.S. It is a great place for outdoor activities including camping, hiking, bird watching, fishing, boating and many more. If you are not driving, there is also public transportation like Island Explorer bus between parks and it is free. Be sure to visit their website for schedule and route information as it may varies in different season. Fall would be the best time to see the changing leaf color view.
