We all know that bigger cars like SUV or crossover's back seat can be folded down for larger cargo area. But did you know that you could do that too on a sedan car to haul a long object? We did not! We found this hidden gem recently when we were trying to fit large items into our car.
We own a 10+ years old Toyota Corolla compact car that we love. We use it to sell stuff that we no longer need. Recently, we sold two relatively large items: a baby crib and a twin size mattress.

We disassembled the crib into pieces, but they are still pretty wide. Luckily, all large pieces including the small baby mattress fit (barely) inside the car. phew! Then on the same day, somebody wants to buy the twin mattress. We hesitated whether we should ask them to pick it up from our house. Daddy then found a hidden gems in his car that it actually allows us to fold the back seat down. We thought it was impossible to fit in a sedan. Amazing! And we were shocked when the twin size mattress was able to fit in this small compact car too. Wow! We just love this old car even more.
In order to fold the back seat down, first open the back trunk. There are two pull levers on each side of the car. Locate them and pull the lever to disengage the locking mechanism for the back seat. Push each seat forward to fold them down.
You may need to pull the front seat forward a little to give more spaces. Voila! The mattress fits.
The space connecting between the back trunk and the back seat is not huge, but large enough to fit a twin size mattress. That's what we need for now.
It seems like most sedan car can do that. Great design! Go check out yourself if you own one.
