Vermont The Green Mountain

Vermont is one of the least populous state in U.S. Its name origins may derived from French word les Verts Monts, meaning the Green Mountains. You can imagine lots of green mountains during summer time. One of the highlight on our road trip is the Molly's Falls Pond on U.S. Route 2. We drove by it and could instantly tell how beautiful the place is. The lake is an excellent spot for swimming, boating and other outdoor activities. There are 8 campsites at the park and on first come first served basis. Picnic tables are also available within the park.

It is beautiful during summer when we visited. Imagine during fall time, stunning!

Vermont is probably one of the most rural states that we've visited thus far. Even few airlines fly into the states as the demand is probably small. It does have few places worth checking out since we are already at the surrounding states. Let's visit the most populous city Burlington in the 2nd least populous state, ironic?

The Church Street Marketplace is in the city center of Burlington. An outdoor shopping mall located with restaurants and retails shop. It is nice to walk around after dinner. There's a cool wall mural "Everyone Loves a Parade!" on one of the block leading to the garage. Be sure to check it out.

Few blocks away from the marketplace is the Lake Champion and one of the most visited Island Line Trail (formerly know as Burlington Bikeway). It is a 14 mile trail span across Burlington bike path, Colchester Park and the Allen Point Access Area at South Hero. The trail is one of the most scenic with spectacular views and can be accessed by riding bike or walking. Ferry is also available.

About 30 minutes drive from Burlington is the famous Ben & Jerry's Waterbury Factory. They claimed to be one of the "happiest place in Vermont," with kids, we definitely want to check it out. There's a guided 30 minutes tour of the factory for $4 per adult and children 12 and under is free. The best part of the tour is towards the end for ice cream tasting.
